Well today was a different sort of day entirely. I switched shifts with someone from work and ended up working a seven hour shift, but didn’t get much done at home because of it.
I was going to post at least four items tonight, but the bubblews web site is undergoing updates and it’s running slow, so I only got two in.
Total for today 1618 words
Normally I work 7 days a week with two part time jobs. Four of those days when I work one job or the other only, I try to write 6-10 posts, although I haven’t been reaching those goals lately for one reason or the other. The other three days I try to write three to six posts daily although this month, in November, I’ve upped my minimum to four when at all possible.
Today would be one of the days for 6-10 posts, but I have a lot going on, so we’ll see how it goes. This first post tells about what I’m doing today.
Total words 3372
This is the end of my experience with being a nano rebel in 2012, and it was exciting to see all those words coming together, especially since I got no where near this amount of words when I’ve done nano in the past.
Just so you know, I’m starting this last post in November at 7:49pm and I got out of work only five minutes late, an amazing feat for a Friday before the Holidays.
In future years, whether I’m a rebel again or do an actual novel, I will take the time to upload the words as I write them before the day is over so I won’t have to agonize over that part of it at the final end. Had I known that I could still verify my words as a nano rebel, I would have started this sooner.
I have a salad waiting for me to complete this, for it’s hard to write and eat at the same time, which possibly many of you know for yourselves. My current salad is made with Dole greener select. I’d prefer something a bit healthier, but this is the lettuce my husband prefers, and if we have too many kinds opened at once there is that many more to wilt quickly.
With my salad I have shredded cheese, this happens to be Kraft brand, cut a bit bigger, but I prefer smaller shreds (if there is such a word-well there is, but it doesn’t seem right there) and I have no problem eating some store brands, they don’t all have to be name brands.
I have one piece of deli ham which I cut up with a knife, I have one hard-boiled egg, cut, I could have cucumbers, but that would make me cold, so I didn’t bother for the night. Another thing that i enjoy to put on my salads is a product by Fresh Gourmet. It’s flavored crispy onions, similar to the onions that go into green bean casserole, but these are located in the produce section in my store and we like both the onion and garlic flavor. It also comes in tortilla flavors, but if I’m going to have taco salad, I’d prefer to have a basic taco chip.
I have planned on doing a food report and taking pictures, which I might still do one day. I had to wait until my husband’s printer was fixed as it kept saying there was a cartridge error. The error may show up because we don’t use brand name ink cartridges, but rather get the ink refilled by a franchise in our area called Cartridge World.
It’s much less expensive and after every tenth purchase we get one free. They even can fix certain printers depending on what is wrong with them. Sometimes they, the printers, just need the heads cleaned, I believe they do that for free. Other things might only cost $20.00, less expensive than purchasing a new printer.
We had this problem with the same type of printer last year, but we didn’t know that Cartridge World could fix them so inexpensively. Since we did like the printer, we purchased a new one. The new one didn’t last long before it too began to act up.
We quit purchasing Dell printers because they eventually wouldn’t accept ink done elsewhere rather than purchasing Dell cartridges. They worked okay for quite a while, then all of a sudden they wouldn’t work anymore. We liked both printers, but they shouldn’t be able to decide where we purchase our ink especially since brand name is normally so much more expensive.
It’s annoying when you put your money into a printer and then it doesn’t last as long as you expect it too. I think this is a problem whether you spend a lot or a little on printers, as it’s a problem with almost anything we buy these days.
In fact, maybe you all know this, but sometime in the past someone had the bright idea to manufacture things without providing the quality we were always used to. They figured it would force us to purchase another item that much more quickly than we had to before.
I have a kitchen floor that is over sixty years old. It does need to be replaced now because since my husband can’t take off his shoes, there is ground in dirt in the crevices-it’s like an Armstrong floor. I talked with someone I know that their floor looked in decent shape compared to ours and she was planning on replacing her floor and I then found out that it was only nineteen years old. That is a big difference on things lasting not as long as they used to. The same is true for appliances: washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves and the like.
We used to purchase a package of towels that we used to clean windows, they were nice and thick and lasted several seasons. Now we’re lucky if they last six months and that’s even without using bleach on them, for bleach thins them out even faster.
Well everyone, I now have 846 words and I only needed 657, so I’m closing this post now. i may come back once to chat a bit to finalize my nano project for 2012. Again I welcome all of you to my other blogs, and I plan on visiting all of your blogs within the next two weeks or so.
Right now it’s still November 15, but in a few minutes it will be tomorrow, so this will be posted on the 16th even though I’m sharing about my busy day on the 15th. I got some writing done, but not anywhere near what I had hoped that I would. I wanted to get an additional two thousand words in before midnight. Ah well, you win some you lose some.
I did get words written and maybe close to the desired daily count of 1666, but I was hoping to catch up some today as I’m still quite a bit behind.
I did get a lot done, though, and that was nice. Other than getting some writing in, I worked on cleaning my stove top, which gets nasty as it’s over sixty years old as is most everything in our house. I did some filing, laundry, dishes and last but not least payroll. Of course I had to play a game or two, but I tried to stay away from that as much as possible.
I try to get over to my mother’s weekly to play cards. She lives alone and is legally blind. She gets bored easily. She watches a bit of tv, but has to sit about a foot away to see even the little bit that she can. I’d like to spend more time with her, but since I work the two jobs it makes it a bit difficult to manage.
I was hoping to make it to the gym today when my husband returned from getting his prosthetic adjusted. We were going to go together. It’s easier to stay longer if I have someone with me, even if we wouldn’t be working on the same type of machines.
I’m going to be even busier until Thanksgiving. Wed and Thursday were my days off this week, and my next day off isn’t until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I’m hoping that we can find folks that will let us clean their windows before Thanksgiving so we can make some money if for no other reason than to pay payroll for the week, but it would be nice to have extra to pay bills.
I may have to plan on getting the remainder of my word count in Black Friday, the next day Saturday and the last week of the month. Even though it will start to get busier as people begin to buy for Christmas gifts, hopefully it won’t be quite as busy as it will be this next week.
I’m running out of steam. Hopefully I’ll post more later today at a more normal time.
Word count 436.
I posted my last post just as the clock struck twelve, so alas, it didn’t go for yesterday’s post but for today’s instead. But that’s okay, I’m going to post when I think of something to write so that I can hopefully catch up.
I’ve already begun several drafts of posts in the few days time when I didn’t post anything, or not much of anything at all. Possibly had I posted the little that I had written, I would have gotten a second wind and written even more than I expected.
Even now, I certainly didn’t expect to begin a new post right after publishing the last one, but I updated my word counts in the official nano site and thought I’d take a look at my email there. I was surprised because I received an email from the nano originator himself, Chris Baty.
To quote one of his paragraphs, he said: “You can help build that path faster by hitting your writing goals for the next three days. This may sound like a small thing, but little, consistent writing achievements open the door to huge writing breakthroughs”.
Not only did that inspire me so that I can expect to finish nano, but it also inspired me to realize that I can be more consistent in posting in my various blogs more often. Maybe all I will need to do is endeavor to hit my writing goals for three days of each and every week, that should allow me to have the necessary time to come up with something for each blog at least weekly. That would be very sweet.
I thought I’d mention that I’d like to thank all my new followers for this blog along with the likers and those that do make a comment or two on any of my blogs.
I ran into a problem this morning when checking out a blog of someone that is now following this one. The blog has awesome photography on it and the viewer can also purchase prints if they’d like. The problem I had was being able to make any comments or liking any post that I checked out.
I have found that I’m not able to do any of that using my Chrome browser, so I generally have the firefox one open for that reason. I used the firefox browser to again try to like a post or two and make a comment and suggestion, but it seemed that the problem may have been word press related this time. Whatever it was, I wasn’t able to do any communication with the site owner on their site. I even tried to follow their blog using my email address and that didn’t work either.
I tried to use pinterest to link their blog to my account for others to oooh and aaah over the photography, and pinterest even put a stop to the link. This particular person has thousands of followers, so it doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe I’ll try internet explorer later on, but soon I’ll be getting ready for work.
It’ll be busy as the days progress toward Thanksgiving. We are always short-handed. A few cashiers are being trained right now, hopefully they will be able to start before Thanksgiving to help lighten the load. My daughter even applied recently. I don’t know whether she’ll be a cashier or help in the clothing department. Whichever it is, it will be a benefit to me as I’ll be able to take her off my insurance as she’ll be able to get her own. I’m looking forward to that.
When I began this nano blog, I thought after nano was completed that I would save this blog for each succeeding nano, from year to year and not use it in between. But, now that I’m starting to have a bit of a following, I may not do actual posts here in the interim, but I can use the space to link posts I make on my other blogs in case anyone would like to read any of them.
I’m going to finish this post and maybe do another post later tonight to try to finish my word count for the day as I’m just under half way there. On the official nano site, they would consider this extra for what I put there in the wee hours of the morning because I wasn’t able to change my count for yesterday until the clock had already struck twelve.
Had I realized I was that close in time, I would have moved a little faster to try to get it posted before today began, but I wasn’t paying that much attention.
I would really like to take time out from writing, and there isn’t really any time to take since I’m behind already, but I would like to get better at getting things done around the house.
Later fellow bloggers.
